SQL Server 2008 SP2 Released

SQL Server 2008 SP2 has been released and I must be living under a rock because I had no idea it was coming.

Fellow SQL blogger (and Canadian) Aaron Bertrand broke the news on his blog here

Link to the Service Pack

Link to the bugs that are fixed in SQL Server 2008 SP2

Note (from Aaron re: SP2) : “The Service Pack only includes the fixes that were in SP1 CU 1 through 8.  So if you have already applied CU9 or CU10, I would hold off on deploying the service pack for now, especially if you are relying on any of the fixes in either of those CUs – because there is a chance that you will lose them.”

Now before you get all Service Pack crazy… make sure to slow down, review the changes, and apply the service pack using the same change process you do for any application release.  If you don’t have a change process defined this sounds like a great time to read:

Thanks for posting the news Aaron… apparently I need to update where I look for this type of info cause my usual places still don’t have anything posted about it 🙂

Enjoy!!

    Colin,

You will find out that Aaron posts about all of the various service pack and cumulative updates that come out.

We should see SQL2005 SP4 soon.

    Chris
